Hindsight

You know when you try something and realize that you should have taken advantage of an opportunity sooner?

Right now I’m sitting at Jes Lacasse‘s place participating in what I can only call a “work jam”.  Tim Anderson is here too.  At this very moment, none of us are working in conventional jobs**, so today we decided to get together and work on the personal work that we need to complete.  An opportunity to help each other out, consult with each other and be more productive.  Like being in an office, except it’s Jes’ living room.

Work is happening

I talk about hindsight, because this is something that we could have been doing all summer.  Jes and I became self/unemployed at the same time and we could have been more focussed in our day to day work if we had been keeping each other accountable.  Despite the momentary lapse of silliness at the beginning of today’s work jam (and impromptu 90’s tv trivia competitions), things are going well, and I daresay that we are getting some serious work done.

There has been some talk of nap time, which I am not entirely against as I was up late last night… couldn’t hurt right?

I think that one of the things that I’m taking away from today’s work-fest is that I need to take advantage of the people that I have around me (in a good way).  I know a lot of talented, awesome people in different work situations and it’s important that we take the time to rely on each other and help each other out even if we are outside of conventional work spaces…  I’m taking away the fact that Jes and Tim are awesome work buddies.

And for those of you who are wondering, I dominated in the Saved By The Bell competition… because I’m awesome.
