This summer I discovered the Ottawa Farmer’s Market located at Brewer Park. I don’t know why I had never been before – I love fresh produce, I think buying locally is important… so I’m a prime candidate for Farmer’s Market goodness, right? Right.
The Ottawa Farmer’s Market is awesome. Booths upon booths of fresh green vegetables, juicy delicious fruits, crisp brown baked goods, and fresh cut meats of all kinds. This summer, some notable purchases were fruit (peaches, strawberries, blueberries), tomatoes (the green zebras were delicious), fresh scapes, pickled turnips, brussel sprouts, chickpea bread, maple butter tarts, macaroons… it was all pretty notable. Today I picked up some Balsamic Red Pepper Jelly and some Garlic Jelly… and a hot cup of broccoli/kale soup. So delicious.

The fresh produce is complimented well by the ready-to-eat booths. They serve up salads, iced tea, crepes, dips, soups, baked potatoes, Indian food, wild boar sausages… IT SMELLS SO GOOD EVERYWHERE.
This weekend was the last weekend of the Farmer’s Market at Brewer Park. They’re taking a few weeks off and then opening the Christmas Market in December… I may have to make an appearance there to sniff out all the holiday goodies! Smell you later Farmer’s Market!
